springhill has so many staff which is perfect for all of the kiddos we serve!! there's so many of us & we've just been hanging out, doing training & getting to know each other for the past couple of weeks. during the middle of week 2 rumor started that we were overstaffed. huh? what's that mean? basically, since it's early in the summer & parents aren't quite sick of their kiddos under their feet yet there's not that many kids signed up for camp week 1. in turn we are overstaffed with nearly 20 lifeguards, 7 photographers, tons of counselors, coaches & high adventure staff...if we were to all be there upon the arrival of week 1's campers, they would be so overwhelmed! So, some of us got to go home for the week...me included.
i have been stretched & pushed in my 2 weeks at the hill so far & met some pretty cool people but i was so glad to go home! to unpack boxes in my new house, hang out with some people i didnt get a chance to see before i left & regroup before camp. this week is such a blessing to me.
i was afraid that all that god has taught me in my short time at the hill would slip to the back of my mind at home. but ive been blessed by conversations and experiences at home where i see that god is still working. sitting in shuller's books downtown with a loaf of day old bread, books on india, crayons & paper my katie fox & i shared our experiences; of india, of springhill, of life. we talked about the joys, the hard stuff, the goofy & everything in between. opening her journal she shared with me what she had learned thousands of miles from home from god, & from others. the simplicity of our time & thoughts we shared were worth 1000 sessions at camp; god is still working here.
headed back to the hill in a week or so & not forgetting for a moment what He can do with me in this place.
